San Diego county real estate
City: East Lake
East Lake, is among the two largest master-planned communities
in Southern California. The other is Otay Lakes. EastLake was
once named Janal, meaning, spongy ground and served
as a agricultural center where vast quantities of fruits and vegetables
were grown and harvested.
Eastward expansion and housing developments have replaced the
groves in the form of single-family tract house complete with
landscaped yards and underground utility lines. Most of these
new neighborhoods offer easy access to local parks, schools and
recreational centers. It also shares lots of amenities with its
neighbors Chula Vista (East Lake is actually within the incorporated
boundaries of the city) and Bonita, which have more than two-dozen
parks, municipal pools, a community center, a teen nightclub,
redeveloped downtown center, boat launches, two marinas, golf
courses, a community college, two medical centers, major shopping
centers and an Olympic Training Center. Neighboring communities
include Bonita, Chula Vista and National City. ZIP codes: 91915.
Population: 9,067. Median income: $61,765.
